Walking on Water

We went to the Winnipeg Lake and we actually got to walk on the water. We had heard a sermon in Richmond how it was time to get out of our comfort boat and walk on water. I never actually thought that we would be able to do it. Notice who is with us. Terry's parents and gramma also went with us to walk on the water. It was really cold this day and the this is the largest lake in Manitoba. Come summer the water will be unfrozen and there will be a lot of people sunbathing and playing in the waves right where we were standing. This summer we will go back and take another picture at the same spot. The day we went it was really cold about minus 30. My toes were frozen.

Relay for Life

Hey guys,
We have been asked by Aunt Paulette to participate in the Relay for Life which supports cancer research on June 1st here in Winnipeg. We are all really excited by the opportunity that it will bring to be able to fellowship and share in the healing process that this bout of breast cancer has had for her. It will begin with a walk by all of the survivors of cancer around a track lit by luminaries that people have purchased and lit in either memory or honor of someone that they know who had cancer. I know that this will be a really special but also hard thing to watch and go through. We have all known someone who is going through cancer stuff or has already passed away from it and so this will be a pretty emotional time for everyone there. If you would like to have a luminary placed in someone's honor or memory it is only $5 canadian or you could also sponsor one of us at http://www.cancer.ca/relayforlife/0,3707,153983157,00.html. Just click on the sponsor someone icon and then you can search by our names either first or last.
Ter's family will mostly be there as we are participating as the Desaulniers family. It is exciting to be able to witness with them and participate in this activity. Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers for our family. God is so good and he provides for more than our needs than we ever thought possible. Thank you for continuing to pray for the families and people who are going through radiation, or chemo right now or have recently lost someone to cancer. It is not an easy disease and hopefully someday their will be a cure, but even if there is never a cure, it is so good that we have a God who loves us and sees us when we hurt so just pray for healing. I love you all and God bless.

Here's a few pictures of homeschooling.

New House

Here are just a few pictures of our place. Notice how open and flat the scenery is here. I can't believe how far you can see here.

Life in Canada

We have been experiencing some interesting weather here. It is cold one minute and then warmer the next. Maybe that means that spring is on it's way. It has been minus 40 and then the warmest it has been is 1 degree celcius which is 33 degrees fahrenheit. We spent a day exploring the city of Winnipeg one day and saw all of the interesting sports and we also went to a french festival called Festival Du Voyageur. It was a lot of fun and we got to eat snow taffy and see all the beautiful ice sculptures. It was fun but cold.

Desaulniers move

Hello everyone, just wanted to let you know that we are all ok and enjoying our new life in Winnipeg, Canada. It is very different from Richmond, Virginia and we miss all of our family and friends from there however things are going well here. God is certainly in control and we have secured a townhouse that we are renting. It is nice to finally feel settled. I can't imagine what it would be like to be homeless and not have a spot of your own. It has really made me think about things differently. I read the other day a great inspirational story from my devotions that I would like to share with everyone.

God will take care of you. He will!!! However... faith like love usually comes with a price. Letting go of the handrail. Taking off the training wheels. Stepping away from the ledge. It's scary, wobbly and makes your heart pound in your ears. But once you've done it there's no turning back- not because you can't but because you don't want to. Once you've experienced what it's like to allow God to release his powner in your life, it's hard to settle for anthing less. Faith means doing the unexpected while the world rolls its eyes. Are you unsure of your next step? Confused about your future? Afraid of what's around the bend? Have you ever considered that's just the way God wants you? Sometimes, he does His best work when you don't have a clue. At times like these, all you need to know is that He does. God is in the details. Not your details- His details. Sparrows don't plan for the future, yet they return in the spring year after year, fat and sassy. Lilies don't grow tall and beautiful because they know how, but because God does. So if God has time to tend to the birds and flowers, don't you think you are on His agenda someplace? After all you're family. Don't look back. Leap. And pray while you run!!

I loved this story. It reminded me why we are here and to not be afraid or worry about what will happen in the future. God will take care of us, so take a leap and have faith.
