Mikayla had her windup banquet for soccer this week and she received a beautiful trophy for participating and for her team she was presented with the hardest worker award. We were very proud of her this season with soccer. She still continues to really like it and loves to be aggresive and take the ball away. She scored once and did a great job leading her team by talking to them and encouraging them to play their positions. I managed the team and also helped to coach sometimes. I was really excited with all of her hard work and effort that she put into soccer. She really deserved the award and there was only one given on the team of 13 girls. Next year she will move up to bigger fields and more positions on the team. So far she really likes middle mid field because you get to play defense as well as have the opportunity to score. It is a lot of running but it gets some of her energy out and she is great at it. She gets tired sometimes and then will ask for a break but otherwise she never complains. We are really excited to see her continue in this area and wonder where it may take her. She also loves the running club and plans to join again next year.

Danielle's 6th grade promotion
Danielle celebrated her promotion today. She was up at 6:30 this morning so excited to get moving. A friend from down the road helped her to do her hair. I had placed it in curlers the night before but her and her friend got together early to get all ready. She had been chosen to sing at the promotion. They did a great job. I have videotaped all of the ceremony for anyone who wants to sit and watch it. I still can't believe that I have one daughter who is going into the 7th grade. Time sure flies by. She worked on a morphing project that I will try to see if I can't upload it onto this site. We were very proud of her. She has really done a wonderful job this school year getting adjusted to new life and also making new friends. She is looking forward to being in another school next year away from her sister.

Danielle Soccer Tournament
Ter coaches Danielle's team for soccer and they went to a tournament on June 5-7th. The girls played hard. Danielle plays a great goalie and also likes to try to score. The girls still have some things to learn but they are beginning to play harder and more as a team. We are really proud of them. Soccer is now finished until the fall.
Celebration for my Dee's Graduation
We celebrated me finally getting my masters degree in Special Education by dressing up and going out to a place called the Revolving Restaurant. It has a great view of the city and was a lot of fun to dress up and go somewhere fancy. I really enjoyed the evening and especially loved knowing that I would not have to write another paper for a really long time. It only took me 2 1/2 years to finish everything up for the degree. I was thrilled that it was finally completed. I just recently got back all of my paperwork to be able to teach in Canada and I am also now a legal permanent resident of Canada. All of the paperwork has finally been finished. I just accepted a position at a christian school for the 08-09 school year. I am not teaching special education yet but it will be good to be back in a school system.
Music Festival
Danielle competed in a vocal competition in early June with her music school. She performed in front of a judge and had an audience of about 40 people there. The judge critiqued her style and also gave her pointers of what she could improve upon. Danielle sang a song from the broadway musical Cinderella called In my own little corner. She dressed up as a dirty Cinderella and even brought a broom to dance with. She did very well and the judge gave her a 93 % for her overall performance. We were really proud of her accomplishments. She thinks next year she will try out for the jazz concert. They will be heading to Toronto for a music festival next year if she makes the group.
